Lake Winnipegosis: Freshwater Lake Series

The newest in my Freshwater Lake Series is Lake Winnipegosis which is located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It has entertaining lesser known alternate spellings of Lake Winipigoos or Winipigis which were once more commonly used!

Reindeer Lake: Freshwater Lake Series

The next in my hand-lettered Freshwater Lake Series is Reindeer Lake. At the South end is Deep Bay, which according to local legends is the home of a monster that pulls animals through the ice to eat them during the winter! It’s name is possibly just “Deep Bay Monster” which is kind of lackluster – I think it deserves a super cool name like some of Canada’s other cryptozoological wonders 🙂

ASHLEY_LOTECKI_MARCH
I’m taking art Bootcamp again this year, super fun and challenging! March’s project brief was to create a 1920s inspired adult coloring book concept which started with a mini project of drawing 20s hairstyles. For my project I decided to take it in a bit of a different direction and researched how Halloween was celebrated in the 1920s which was very interesting! I present to you “Halloween in the 1920s,” a coloring book 🙂 You can check out the full gallery of artists’ work here.

Lake Superior: Freshwater Lake Series

The next in my illustrated Freshwater Lake Map Series is Lake Superior which is the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area! It has some very interestingly named islands – Pie Island is my favorite (wouldn’t it be amazing if it was full of bakeries that specialized in the most amazing pies? Yum!) In addition to hand-lettering all the interesting names of places it consisted of, I couldn’t help but include small hints of the flora that grow around the Lake 🙂

You can check out the larger version of my map and see more detail on They Draw & Travel here or click on the map image and you’ll be transported!

Great Bear Lake: Freshwater Lake Series

The next in my hand-lettered Freshwater Lake Map Series is Great Bear Lake which is located in the Northwest Territories in Canada! It has a really interesting shape and is the largest lake located fully in Canada. It also has a lot of “arms” 🙂

New Pattern – Rumbles (in Tummies!)

A new pattern inspired by after school snacks and hungry tummies! I wanted this to be a fun colorful layout that used a limited palette. I had a lot of fun reminiscing for inspiration! This is now available for sale in my Spoonflower shop 🙂 Sample swatch image shows the pattern printed on the lovely new Poly Crepe de Chine.

Some great news – My Blue Ribbon pattern placed in the top ten for Spoonflower’s State Fair themed competition a week and a half ago! Spoonflower always takes the most lovely photos of the winning fabrics so I’m sharing some great shots they took below. I love how vibrant the colors look! The fabric is now for sale in my shop here 🙂
